During the preparation for ‘Expectations’, performed during the 13th edition of Dak’Art Biennale of Contemporary African Art, I expressed breastmilk in various public and private locations. The milk was then displayed alongside the site of the performance. Pumping and dumping is common among nursing mothers whilst away from nursing babies or if their milk in contaminated. This personal, often domestic act, is made public.
